Cup of Reviews – DIORSKIN STAR Foundation

Hello Beautifuls!!

Can’t believe we’re almost the end of January already… Valentine’s day is coming up! I have so many ideas, but I also see time going by so fast, that I can hardly keep up with time! I never got around posting my Beauty favorites from last year. I know, I’m embarrassed as it is… But I also have some reviews coming up from limited edition products, so I should hurry posting those before they’re no longer available. As you can see, I have a bucket full of inspiration but not enough time!! I’m motivated though to have 2 fixed posting days. Writing more than 2 posts per week is too stressful for me at the moment. Last year, I wrote 3 posts per week consistently in May, but that was extremely difficult to maintain.

Anways, enough of my ranting! Today I have a high end review for you! I love buying cheap, but good beauty products to try out. But sometimes, splurging on a luxurious item feels soooo good!

With a coupon that I got for my Birthday last year, I went to the Ici Paris Ixelles to pick out my gift. I initially went in to get the DIORSKIN FOREVER Foundation, everyone has been raving about. But the girl from the counter advised me for my drier skin to go for the STAR Foundation instead. After she did a demonstration on me, I was sold…

The Packaging

Dior is well known for their luxurious packaging. It’s a pleasure just looking at the bottle. The cap is a dark blue with a silver rim. The glass bottle itself is long, elegant, transparent and comes with a pump. It retails for 49.5€ at Ici Paris Ixelles.

There seem to be 14 shades ranging from very fair to deeper skin tones. Mine is in 020 light beige (which matches my forehead where my facial skin is the darkest).

The Product & its Claims

Diorskin Star is Dior’s 1st brightening foundation, that is weightless, provides a long lasting glow and neutralizes color imbalances. It also provides protection from the sun with its broad spectrum SPF 30.

The Scent

I love it.

How does it perform?

Application: The pump disperses a very small dot, like a pea size amount of foundation. In the beginning, I thought that was very little. But after a while I noticed that a little did go a long way.

I just pump the product on the back of my hand and then use my ring finger to place dots on my cheeks, under the eyes, forehead and chin. Using an oval brush or beauty blender, I blend out the product. Then I put on concealer under the eyes, nose bridge, forehead and around the nose. These areas are then set with powder.

Look: The finish is definitely dewy and very healthy looking.

Coverage: Medium, you’ll still see your skin through it. This gives a very natural glowy look.

Longevity: If I don’t use any primer and setting spray, I find that it doesn’t last me very long. Throughout the day, the coverage diminishes and the redness around my nose does show up more. The dark circles become more visible after 6 hours. However, when I use the Skindinavia Primer Mist in combination with the Skindinavia Setting Spray Bridal, I could wear it over 12h. The beautiful thing is that it remains looking healthy and glowy, without making you look oily.

My Conclusion

I seriously think that this foundation makes your skin look soooooo beautiful: healthy, plump, glowy, young… With a good primer and setting spray, it continues looking awesome throughout the day. I sometimes come home from a very long day of work, after which I went to my belly dance class and it just continues looking amazing.

This foundation especially looks good on your skin in broad daylight. As it does contain SPF 30, I wouldn’t recommend using it for an indoor party, where you know there’ll be a lot of flash photography.

While it looks dewy, it’s not tacky. You don’t feel it sitting on your skin, like some products do. I like products that are medium coverage, because you can still see the skin through the foundation. It’s like your skin but better.

Have you used this foundation before? Or the Forever one? Or maybe both? What’s the difference? Please do share with us :).

Love,

Sarah
