Cup of Reviews: Maybelline Vivid Hot Laquer

Hi my favorite Honey buns!!

I’m feeling blessed right now. Blessed with the pain that comes with an hour of belly dancing on the flour haha!! Maaaaan, I am going to have to deal with this for the upcoming days. And I’m pretty sure it get’s worst starting the 2nd and 3rd day :p. Looking forward to that!… Uhm not!

I’m a woman with a mission right now! I’m currently working hard for my belly dancing and I’m also trying to convince my BF to buy a cute Pomeranian (you know, one like Shila the pom ==> If you don’t know this little star, you NEED to check her out on Instagram!!! She’s the cutest thing, EVER!). Those of you who have dated a pisces before, you know they can’t be cornered nor demanding or requesting things straightforward. That’s not how you catch a fish people, hahaha. My tactic is letting him see each other day one or two videos from Shila. At first, he didn’t want to have a small “rat” like that. Then it became: “oh he’s actually funny” and now it’s like “yeah, he’s cute”. I’m hoping it’ll become “Aww we need that little sweetheart in our lives” hahah! Y’all know I’m not blessed with patience. So we’ll see how this little experiment turns out :p.

Luckily, I have some things going on to take my mind off it! I’ve had a long period of no buy last year. So the past couple of months I’ve HOARDING make up :). Yes, I’ve said it! Shamelessly! Sooooo, the products I’ll be reviewing today, have been waiting in my drawer for some time. And I can’t believe, I didn’t bust them out sooner!!! You’ve read it in the title. I’m of course talking about the Maybelline Vivid Hot Laquers!!!

The Packaging

The tube is long, sleek and elegant. The applicator has a very pointed tip, like a teardrop, making it very easy to apply the product with precision. The letters are black, but only the name of the product is written on it. There is no information on the weight nor ingredients, which I find very strange. Perhaps I ripped it off accidentally?

The tube itself is transparent, so you can see the shade inside, and has a black cap.

The Scent

It’s not a soft but sharp vanilla scent, smelling quite artificial, which I don’t mind but I wanted to point it out.

The Shade & Pigmentation

76 Obsessed looks like a very dark plum in the tube. But when swiped on the lips, it is super vibrant and quite lighter than in the tube, however not less pigmented. It can be deqcribed as a vibrant Fuschia. I believe this shade also comes in the Vivid Matt Liquids from Maybelline. But that version is a much deeper plum.

62 Charmer is a beautiful nude shade. It’s slightly pale, but I just love how plump and healthy it makes my lips look. It also looks warm enough. It reduces the lines and makes my lips look so juicy!

The Texture

Very moisturizing, but not the thickest formula. The shade glides on smoothly. While the first contact with your lips will have a transfer of some product, it is actually smoochproof while staying very vibrant.

The Longevity

It stays approximately for 4 hours. The gloss fades and leaves the lips tinted for 2 to 3 more hours depending on your mouth “activities” (such as eating, drinking, talking, kissing,…). For the 76 Obsessed shade, I found that there was some slight bleeding by the middle of the day. The 62 Charmer shade also would fade, but as the color is light, it kind of looks unattractive without the glossy finish.

My Final Thoughts

I am actually quite impressed by this product. Not only is the pigmentation amazing, but it also moisturizes the lips for a good 4 hours. I don’t mind to reapply and I just love, LOVE, the fact that it’s smoochproof. This reminds me a lot of the Peripera , which I’ve mentioned in the past as my favorite lipgloss formula. However, I’m less happy about the fact that it does bleed out slightly.

An hour of belly dancing?! Wow that sounds like a killer workout! Pomeranians are so adorable and fireballs of energy. 2 years ago my boyfriend surprised me with a puppy. Her name is Ruby and she is half Japanese Chin and half Pomeranian. At the time I was so busy and didn’t think I was ready for a dog also I considered myself a cat person, but Ruby pretty much thinks she is a cat. I hope you will get a puppy. Just know that these little ones are feisty, honary, and take a lot of patience and perseverance to train, but so worth-it and loyal to the core. But also yappy. You will have to keep me posted 🙂

They are, aren’t they!!! I love how a dog can give you it’s unconditional love and admiration. Seeing that puppy face everyday, I think that would make me very happy :D. I love my rabbits and they also give me a lot of their love, but I guess it’s not unconditional haha! Yesss, that workout was a pain. I felt it the pain 3 days straight. Luckily we stretched well, so it was manageable! xoxo Sarah

Haha I think you are right! That unconditional love from a puppy is different from the motive-based affection that we get from our cats (food and treats). You felt that lovely BURN from your workout even days later. Great job! That is how you know it is working, right? Yes, thank goodness for stretching and I really love epsom salt baths to relieve muscle aches and also headaches. In February I did an 8 hour Mixxedfit (dance fitness) training that I almost skipped because I was coming out of a period of not working out for a month. I am glad I went even though I was in pain for the next too weeks. It was so rejuvenating and helped me feel alive again! Keep up the dancing and the workouts! I have taken another break from working out, but I saw my arms in the mirror yesterday and think that it is time for me to start adding in some strength training again 🙂
