Cup of Reviews: L’Oréal – Hydra Genius Aloe Water (for normal to dry skin)

My dear darling vanilla waffles,

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend! We had our performance yesterday at the Belly Dance Festival and it was so much fun (You can watch it here. I do feel like doing some more performances this year, can’t get enough of it! (If you’ve missed my previous belly dance posts, you can read them here: IntroEffortChoreo).

After I’ve finished the RAINPHARMA line, it was time to try something new. This L’Oréal product caught my eye because the packaging looked so relaxing. The color of the packaging and tube just spoke to me.

The Packaging

Pretty and sleek glass bottle with a light blue liquid, that comes with a metallic blue pump and a transparant cap. For 10.99€, you get 70 ml worth of product. I really do like how elegant it looks. It’s always nice when a product comes with a pump.

The Product & its Claims

Hydration, hydration, hydration…

The product is a watery gel, which immediately absorbs into the skin. It contains Aloe water and Hyaluronic acid. The Aloe water provides your skin essential minerals for the hydration of the skin. The Hyaluronic acid is capable of holding 1.000 times it’s weight in water, which provides intense hydration.

Immediately, the skin should feel refreshed, soft and comfortable. With each day that you use the product, it’s supposed to make your skin radiant and deeply hydrated.

The Scent

This smells fresh, very fresh… So fresh, that I feel like I’m slathering men’s aftershave on my face. Now that I’ve used it for a while, I’ve gotten used to the scent. But it’s very strong.

How does it perform?

The gel is very liquid and indeed absorbs very fast into the skin. It’s like my skin is drinking up the water. It doesn’t feel like you have anything on the skin, except that it’s a bit wet after application. The product is very refreshing.

Somehow it’s strange to not have a thick hydrating cream on my face, because that’s what I’m used to. So I tend to feel I need more moist, even though that’s not the case… This product is perfect for those who don’t like to feel any product on their face. Especially in the evening, when you go to sleep, there’s nothing sticky left… Using this in the summer months will be so cooling!

According to their packaging, this liquid texture is inspired by Asian skincare. I think the product is comparable to the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Toner, which has the same texture and absorption. Except that the scent of the L’Oréal product is way stronger than the Etude House one.

My Conclusion

If you are someone who doesn’t like the feeling of any cream on your face, but still wishes to have some hydration, this product is for you. You’ll have to like the scent though, because it’s very strong.

If on the other hand, you prefer a well moisturized skin, this product will not provide you that. I like layering creams, so I don’t mind using on top of this product another one with other moisturizing benefits…

Have you tried this product before? What do you think of it?

Anyhows friends, have a lovely week! And I’ll to you in my next post!!

Love,

Sarah
