Cup of Reviews: L’OCCITANE EN PROVENCE – Immortelle Reset (Overnight Reset Oil-in-Serum)

My BF’s brother and sister in law got me for NYE an advent calendar from L’Occitane (Best Gift EVER). I got so many great products in that calendar, which I’m still enjoying. They were mainly body care products and some skincare products.

But that’s not the star of today’s post! With that advent calendar, I got some samples. And for me L’Occitane is somewhat a brand I knew, but never got into (you know, there are so many products on the market). I never expected to make the following discovery: the Overnight Reset Oil-in-Serum (recently features in my Skincare Routine)! After using that sample, I just had to get my hands on the full size!

The Packaging

This product comes in a luxurious glass bottle. You get 30ml for 59€ (196.7€/100ml), which is more expensive than the iconic Estée Lauder Advanced night repair 84.99€/75ml (113.32€/100ml) and is about the same price tag as Dior’s Skin Boosting Super Serum. But to be honest, I’ve never tried the Dior one. The Estée Lauder serum, I’ve tried a sample for a couple of weeks, so I can’t properly judge.

What are it’s claims?

According to the website (buckle up, cause it’s a long one):

Your skin is visibly restored in 1 night. 100% of the women have seen the difference. If you have an intense and stressful lifestyle, this product would help restore your skin overnight, giving you instant results the next day.

The skin would visibly look younger each day, you’d look well rested, have less visible wrinkles. Each morning you’d have radiant “new” skin.

The benefits: prevents signs of ageing (wrinkles are smoothed out), radiance (you look well rested, refreshed and healthy), hydrates.

Innovation: The oil-in-serum melts nicely into the skin and is enriched with essential Immortelle oil (anti ageing, encapsuled in fine gold pearls) and marjory extract and Acmella Oleracea, which activates the regeneration mechanism and helps smooth out the skin immediately.

And the claims goes further :)… After 7 nights:

  • 90% of the skin looks more even
  • 97% of the skin looks more revitalized
  • 90% of the skin will look younger

This was tested with 31 women over 1 night. 97% thought they looked more well rested and fresh, 81% had radiant skin. They also tested this after 7 days and 28 days.

Boy, they are quite specific with their numbers. If all of this is true, I think it’s quite impressive. The lady at the store (she was so helpful and knew so much info) told me that this immortelle serum is derived from Everlasting flowers. These do not whither, even after you’ve plucked it. She told me that if you rub Everlasting flower (Helichrysum italicum) on bruises, the bruise would disappear. It’s also called the curry plant :D, which sounds a lot less sexy to be honest…

The Smell

It smells like fresh vine leaves, not sweet at all. It could also be a smell of leaves when it has rained. The scent is quite strong.

The Texture

The texture is very much like a normal serum. It’s quite watery to apply, but very refreshing. It absorbs quite fast into the skin. The beads come out crushed, but they melt into the skin once you massage it in.

Why do I love it this much?!

Usually, when it comes to skincare, it takes minimum 2-3 weeks or even more than a month before you see any results at all. Often, these change are subtle. For some products, you don’t even see a real difference.

Now, my skin has been really nice lately, as I’ve changed my skincare routine. I know what my products do to give me the skin I am fairly happy with. But then one weekend, I decided to try this serum before I went to bed. The next morning, I literally looked rejuvenated (plus I had a cold, so I was extra surprised), my skin looked radiant, glowy but not oily and plump. I really looked younger. I’ve never seen this much difference within 1 night!

After several weeks, I notice that skin still looks beautiful, however the most visible effect was after that first night. I guess I got used to seeing my skin this pretty ;D)).

My Conclusion

This product is definitely expensive. But I think the price is worth for what you get. I’m all about affordable skincare. And I’ve used high end products in the past. Some worked and some didn’t show any difference. So I’m quite critical when it comes to reviewing skincare products. But I have to say, I’m impressed. I think this makes an ideal gift for your mom, friend, sister,.. Not sponsored, but a huge fan!

Hope you enjoyed this little review! Have a lovely week!

Love,

Sarah
